Wisconsin State Patrol


The WSP is the primary law enforcement on the state's freeway systems (except Milwaukee county). They also assist the rural sheriff's and police with calls. Most units can talk on any sheriff or police channels. To call the district communications center, mobile units call the nearest tower, for example, "255 Delafield." Dispatch calls the mobile unit like this: "Delafield 255". Mobile units are repeated from one (in small districts) or two towers. This means that it is possible to hear the base and not the mobile or vice versa. The Wisconsin State Patrol is now divided into 5 regions. Below is the map of the current regions.
